‘THE WHISPERING DOLL” My sister’s porcelain doll sat perched precariously on the edge of the shelf, its vacant eyes seeming to follow my every move. A sudden gust of wind rattled the windows, and the doll’s head tilted slightly. I swore I heard a whisper, soft as a sigh, calling my sister’s name. A chilling giggle followed, sending shivers down my spine. I snatched up the doll, its ice-coldness seeping into my skin. As I held it closer, the giggle grew louder, closer, until it seemed to originate from within the doll itself. I felt a strange sensation as if the doll was growing heavier, pressing down my hands with unnatural force. I dropped it with a gasp, the porcelain shattering on the floor. As I stared at the wreckage, I swore I saw a flicker of movement in the shattered remains, a fleeting glimpse of something…otherworldly.
